NaBloPoMo: It must be a sign

This was my newsletter article for this week:

It has become apparent to me that I am suffering* from an addiction. Actually, I’ve known this for a while, but I guess I’ve been in denial. It’s time to come clean, though, so this is my confession:
My name is Anne, and I am a craftoholic.
I have always known that I like to make things, from baking to sewing to scrapbooking and photography, and Ben would say that he’s known for a long time that I can border on the obsessive. Ben is fond of saying that he doesn’t have any hobbies, but that I’ve got enough for both of us (and then some!).
When I was working on my dissertation, I didn’t get to indulge myself too much (although my LOGOS class did several crafts during that time), but now, I’m itching to get my craft room straight and get to work! In the meantime, I’ve got some craft projects planned with the UMW for the Bazaar, and I’m taking a pottery class at CCC.
And still, I’ve got the itch. It might be incurable. I have material for a quilt ready to be cut and pieced, I’ve got leather scraps waiting to become part of some handmade books and maybe a case for my phone, I’ve got a 60 year old sewing machine in my den, and too much to do.
Yes, it’s true. I’m addicted to crafts. I’m pretty sure it’s incurable. So I guess I’ll just get to work!

*”suffering” may be too strong a word. “Enjoying” might be a little more accurate.

And then I get the email from NaBloPoMo, the one I ignore 'most every month, the one with the theme for the month ahead. And this is the theme: ART
So I'm in, I think. Hurricane Earl may have his own ideas, but I'm going to give it a try to get back into the swing of blogging. My version of art is most often craft: I'm attracted to folk art and hand-crafted items, and I hope to leverage my participation in September's challenge to create a little more at home. So here goes!
