7 Facts About Me Meme

DogBlogger's got this one, so I decided to give it a try.

Here's the rules:
1. List these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

Okay, so I'm gonna start by breaking rule #3. This is just for fun, anyway. So if you want to do it, consider yourself tagged, and please let me know in the comments if you play.

Here goes:
1. I need frequent access to large bodies of water (preferably ocean) to feel like myself.
2. I live near the beach, but I don't like to go to the beach during the summer. Too hot, too sandy, too sticky, too touristy. Love the beach in winter: lonely, cool, great for long walks and prayers.
3. I was engaged 3 times before I met Ben. Good thing none of them stuck.
4. I am fascinated by hurricanes. I watch the forecasts almost compulsively. I was rooting for Bertha to head west longer, and then to hang around longer. And Cristobal...what a disappointment. All the fuss, for very little real rain where I am, which is where we were really supposed to get it.
5. Almost two years later, I am still in deep mourning for my cat Otis. He was huge and beautiful and loved me desperately, and I him. I suspect this is a way to deal with the grief of other recent losses (last 5 years): both paternal grandparents, my stepmother, two favorite uncles, a favorite pastor from my home church.
6. I consider chocolate a nutritional supplement more than a food. I require it to remain more or less stable. Used to feel the same way about coffee, but first I gave it up for Lent with no real trouble, and then my nutritionist said I couldn't have it anymore. I negotiated for coffee on Fridays, when I'm keeping office hours in the coffee shop.
7. I still wish I had a pony, just like I did when I was little. I really think my backyard is big enough for one of the little Banks ponies we have on Carrot Island. Really. But Ben and the landlord won't let me have one. Ben won't let me have fish or guinea pigs either. He says I have to be satisfied with the dog and the cat.

  1. Nice play! Esp. #5... interesting observation. Sometimes it's much easier to grieve a pet than it is a person.
