Boring and busy

Nothing much is happening.
I'm not writing, although I need to be.
I'm not crafting right now, because there's too much else to do.
My mother-in-law is coming for Christmas, we've had an open house and a parsonage committee meeting, so we really are unpacked now, and the house is very clean and relatively neat.
Here's what I've been up to:
Made a yarn-wrapped wreath for the back door. Fun and easy. Used pom-poms to trim.
Made a rag wreath for the front door. Tons of work tying little scraps of fabric to a wire wreath form, but it looks great. And tearing all that fabric was incredibly therapeutic.
Preached twice in three weeks. Still only once a month, but closer than usual. Need to catch up on sermon posting, come to think of it. Hmmm...
Decorated for Christmas, which I've not done in years. See: open house
Made food:
Apple cider, cereal mix, cake balls (like truffles, really, made with cake & frosting and covered in festive candy coating), spiced nuts, and homemade cheese balls for open house.
This week I'm defrosting a pork loin and a boneless turkey breast for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, respectively. I've made homemade applesauce (yum!), prepped macaroni & cheese (mine's very good and totally deserves a place on our holiday table) and green bean casserole, made a pumpkin dump cake, which really needs a better name, and made cookie dough. Oh, the cookie dough. Loads of it.
Tomorrow I will pick up light rolls and homemade bread from Alex and Brett, as well as butter beans and black-eyed peas from a local restaurant. Could I cook them myself? Sure, but Roland puts far more pork than I would in the butter beans and black-eyed peas--and let's face it, they taste MUCH better that way.
I'm still not sure I've completely worked out in my mind what we're having for each meal, but I'll figure it out as I go. And I'm looking forward to having company for the holidays. Seems more special, especially since I won't be with my family and the Exceptionals this year. E-One is amazing, silly, and cute, and E-Two gets more adorable by the day. I will miss them, with their parents and grandparents, of course.
